FAQ's for Blu-ray & Blu-ray services
  • Blu-ray, also commonly known as Blu-ray Disc, is a next-generation optical disc format.  This format was developed to enable the recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), in addition to storing large amounts of data.  The Blu-ray name is derived from the blue-violet laser used to read and write data to and from the disc.  The letter “e” was intentionally left off so the term “Blu-ray” so the term could be registered as a trademark.
